October: Austin City Limits

For the first time in my life, I have done what all Austinites are required by birth to do. Just as believers of Islam must make the pilgrimage to Mecca, Austinites must, at least once, brave the crowds and attend the renowned Austin City Limits Music Festival.

Months beforehand, I had secured my three day wristband. Days beforehand, the weather reports looked grim: rain. But rain or no, thousands of music lovers, adorned with umbrellas, ponchos, and rain boots flocked to Auditorium Shores. (Citywide shortage of listed items ensued.)

The first day was perfect. Cool and cloudy, with an endless green lawn stretching from one stage to another. I stayed with my friends and heard The Kings of Leon and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The next day, the rain started, but even that was a relief compared to 100 degree heat. I made contact with the Alien Mud Child. I also managed to squeeze my way into the fifth row, where I fell in love with Ghostland Observatory. By Saturday night, Auditorium shores had turned into a sea of mud. Sunday was sweltering, goopy, and the air hinted of the primary ingredient of Dillo Dirt: treated sewage. I left early and spent hours trying to resurrect my shoes from their mud tombs. But overall, ACL was a great experience.

October: HUMANIOD

Well, my dreams, aspirations, interests, and life can be summed up in two words: Tokio Hotel. If you are not familiar with these words: No, this is not some vacationer’s inn in the capital of Japan. It’s a band. No, they are not even Japanese. They are all German bred and born. No, the lead singer is not a woman. He’s a man, or an alien, or an android, or a god. [Debatable.] No, he is not related to a porcupine. He’s looking more like Sonic the Hedgehog these days, anyway...

Now that that has been said, perhaps you can imagine my complete and utter joy when Tokio Hotel’s 3rd album, Humanoid, was released in the US on October 6th. (Someone right that down as one of the greatest days in human history. ) Of course, I bought several versions. The album absolutely blew me out of the water. Their sound is different, but just as great as ever. I had the album on repeat for days. My favorites have to be Humanoid, Hey You, Attention, Dark Side of the Sun, Noise, and That Day. I especially love the "hellos" at the beginning of Dark Side of the Sun. I fell out of my chair the first time I heard it and have had some very close calls since. And the warping on some of the words in That Day is wicked. I can’t wait until next year when they come on tour to the US!

Summary: Hell, I love the entire album. If you have been perhaps living under a rock for over a month, GO BUY IT NOW.

September: HIN

As of recently, I have developed an astounding interest in cars. This may or may not have anything to do a certain male car-enthusiast I know. Anyway, I convinced my dad, who is also a lover of the automobile (as are so many of the male species), to let me go. It was a huge event at a nearby expo center. There were scores of tuned cars, hot Asian boys, and those oh-so-classy HIN models. At the event there were drifting and motocross demonstrations and giant speakers that made the earth shake. Quite an experience.




What my car aspires to be when it grows up. ^^

September: BILL'S NEW MOHAWK

From late September, when Bill first unveiled his new hairstyle. I think the pictures speak for themselves.

HOT! I personally like this style 1000x better than the dreads.

Alien Shoes

I saw these shoes several weeks ago and almost died.



They just leave me speechless. How do you describe them? Sculptural? Alien? Mind-blowing? Painful? I obsessed for a while.

This video is of Alexander McQueen's Spring/Summer 2010 Collection entitled Plato's Atlantis, when Bad Romance was first premiered. Of course, McQueen and Gaga are bosom friends or something, and these shoes are featured in the new Bad Romance video. Now, Alexander McQueen... Happy Birthday Kaulitz Twins!

Today is September 1st, which means... Bill and Tom's Birthday! They're turning 20 this year. If you don't know them, they are the world's most handsome twins and members of the awesome German band Tokio Hotel. I discovered them over a year ago and I am incapable of expressing how much they mean to me. Go check them out. [You're sure to see and hear about them here in the future... Just look out Bill's killer outfit! :) ]

Tough Luxe

There's a big trend for the fall... It's called looking like a badass rockstar. Biker jackets, leather shorts, lace up boots, studded platforms, thin chains, tight lace dresses, fingerless gloves, ripped leggings. This of course means that any online store or mall is a complete hell for me, because I want to buy every single thing and I CAN'T. I have a weakness for anything that's black or silver and has leather, metal (chains, grommets, studs), lace, or sequins. And if you go into any store right now, that's exactly what you'll see. It's like dangling a steak in front of a starving dog. It's just. Plain. Wrong. Okay?
