Pride & Prejudice dress up day. First game of the playoffs.
I wore a fancy-pants dress to school today in an attempt to look like a turn of the 19th century British girl. The result was something that more closely resembled Ella Enchanted. (And hey there is photo evidence! ...Pity...) But no matter. Still got free food and extra credit! Basically, it was a really laid back day with people speaking in terrible British accents while dining on tea and cookies and exhibiting proper decorum. My friend Kevin wore a suit, which is nearly incomprehensible, as he wears the same outfit everyday. Someone stole my camera and managed to get this shot before he rebelled against the headwear.
We had an incredibly close football game today, but managed to pull a win in the last eight seconds. Pure insanity. Ran onto the field afterwards to see friends and took some ridiculous photos. We continue on the road to state!
I love Germany. I love German. I love Germans. Therefore, I love Wurstfest. It also was a great excuse to miss class. We basically took a fieldtrip just to eat funnel cake, listen to rock polka, make ourselves sick on amusement park rides, and buy crazy hats and swords. It was a day specially reserved for area high schools, and some people commented on my Tokio Hotel shirt. :)
...And I coincidentally found this highly appropriate wig. Awesome. Hmmm.... Where have I seen this hairstyle before?
The last home football game of my high school career, on Hallow's Eve, versus our biggest rival.
A gifted poet (ahem, myself) described the game as, “playing monopoly on a rollercoaster with a screamo band.” For normal people, that means it went into double overtime, the teams were neck and neck the entire time, and the crowd was going absolutely berserk. In the end, our school came out the victor with a score of 49-42, but not without casualties. I destroyed my vocal chords and lost my sanity in the process. Here’s to another 17 years of straight victories.
But perhaps more importantly, this date also marked Techno Day. I donned a platinum wig, cyborg glasses, and shiny leggings and paraded around as Lady Gaga for 8 hours. It was a great day.
I must say the rest of the seniors had a dismal showing of school spirit on this day.
Three best friends from elementary school and some random dude. My friends are officers on the dance team. They performed "Thriller." After the game. Take note of the extraordinarily fashionable beanies.
Oh, one of high school’s finest traditions and biggest highlights of the year. Yes, homecoming. The game, the dance, the aftermath. The spirit, the excitement, the drama....
Apparently, drivin' round in a bigass truck with a bigass flag is completely necessary.
I was particularly fond of this year’s dress up day themes: Pirates of the Caribbean vs Shanghai Nights, Star Wars vs Harry Potter, Revenge of the Nerds vs Justice League. Some guys jumped a fence during the pep rally and ran across the field wearing a gorilla and a banana suit. We won the game. The next day, I prepped with my dear friend Erin. Then, our group (of 22 people!) met at another girl's house and we took the traditional photos before heading out for a grotesquely large dinner at a fancy Italian restauraunt. [Note: Allen’s driving skills are questionable.]
The dance theme was Hollywood, so I planned on wearing my platinum blond wig. It was busy drying on a chair in the bathtub, though, so I had to ditch that idea. (That’s not weird… at all...) I also tried to consider the dignity and sanity of my date. Still, I danced the night away as only a half-sane pop idol could. I did feel pangs of regret when they plaid the Pokerface music video on the projector, however. Three of my friends and I stayed until the very end, mourning our last homecoming dance ever. Well, I was mourning, at least. Then we stopped at Magnolia’s to cure our late night munchies with Mag Mud. Wonderful, wonderful, night.
